Race Description

This half-marathon will take place of the exceptionally scenic Great Western Greenway, which is one of the longest off-road walking and cycling trails in Ireland. It is a traffic free trail on the Wild Atlantic Way which follows the route of the renowned Westport to Achill railway which closed in 1937. Spectacular lush landscape and Atlantic seascapes abound. This half-marathon starts in the beautiful vibrant town of Westport and will see runners enter the heritage town of Newport, capturing the magnificent 19th century red sandstone viaduct in a town which is the ancestral home of Princess Grace of Monaco. The half-marathon will the see runners run a return leg from Newport to Westport for the race finish and after event.
