Race Description

The Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest Ultra-marathon is one of central Europe’s biggest ultra races (VBU), run embracing three countries and their capital and 42 localities is unique all over Europe.

The five-day long ultra-marathon challenges, in addition to professional long distance runners, teams, companies of friends, bicycle hikers, roll-skaters and the employees of firms because they can enter partial distances that they are able to fulfil. The local history bicycle tour has an outstanding importance from the aspect of sports tourism as well.

Starting from Vienna, by eroding the historical stones of the late Roman wine road, we are crossing Austria and by following the line of river Danube, covering the most beautiful part of Bratislava, we are running in Slovakia then through the exceptionally nice landscape of Szigetköz (“Land of Islands”), through the towns of waters, advancing near the Vértes hills, then following through the Buda hills, we finish in Budapest.

The event covers 317km in five stages over five days, starting in Vienna and travelling to Bratislava and onto the finish at Budapest.

Day 1: Vienna-Bratislava (approx. 91 km)
Day 2: Bratislava-Győr (approx. 84 km)
Day 3: Győr-Tata (approx. 62 km)
Day 4: Tata-Budakeszi (approx. 59 km)
Day 5: Budakeszi-Budapest (approx. 21,1 km)

The last stage is a half marathon and is an open race in which anybody may participate.
