ARCHIVED RACE: ‘Stunnerz in Runnerz’ ladies-only 5 mile race @ Meadowbank, Magherafelt, Northern Ireland on 02 June 2012

This is Mid-Ulster’s first female-only 5 mile road race-a chance for women to cover an established course without the interference of male competitors & in the company of their friends.
Many females are pounding the pavements of Mid Ulster on their own, the club would like to give these solo athletes the opportunity to test themselves in an official timed environment. It is also an opportunity for local women to participate in a race and challenge themselves to work towards a fitness milestone. For more experienced runners, this may be winning/setting a PB time, for those new to running, it is an opportunity to gain confidence. For less experienced exercisers or those who do not partake in much activity (70% women in NI) it is encouragement to become involved in the event, with an opportunity afterwards to see what’s available in the area for women to improve their fitness & sign up for fitness classes
Event Details:
• Saturday 2nd June; 12pm-3pm Registration from 10 to 11-45am
• Cost £10 for those who are affiliated with Northern Ireland athletics, £12 for those who aren’t
• Prizes in categories: Female Open, Over 35, Over 40, Over 45, Over 50, Over 55, Over 60
• Zumba/dance warm up before race.
There is a Health & Fitness Expo in Meadowbank sports arena after the run. Here, local fitness clubs will be displaying information about the classes & activities they provide, including demonstrations with an opportunity to sign up. No serious event involving women would be complete without shoes (!) so the Harriers have invited many local shops, boutiques & beauticians to display their wares. Many have donated prizes for a raffle on the day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care. In fact, a donation from every race entry will also go to this extremely worthwhile cause.
Our DJ Benny Mud is certain to get the energy levels soaring and there is a Goody bag,Celebration cupcakes, sandwiches & tea/coffee for all
