Race Description

More than 1,000 people are scheduled to attend the “Run for Your Life” 5K Run & Recovery Walk on Saturday, September 17th, on Randall’s Island. Now in its 17th year, this event supports men and women in recovery from substance use and mental health disorders at Odyssey House.

With the latest data from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reporting one overdose death every three hours, increasing awareness and understanding of opioid addiction and the recovery movement is more critical than ever.

The race course begins in front of iconic Icahn Stadium and follows the Island’s waterfront pathways, returning runners to the field adjacent to the Stadium. The event also features a variety of family-friendly activities, including children’s races and games; fitness competitions and demonstrations; and free entertainment and refreshments.
