Race Description

1. Solo 50K event. This is an annual 50-kilometer ultramarathon road race consisting of five 10-kilometer loops around Lake Wingra in Madison, Wisconsin. The certified course is the same used for the US national 100-kilometer championship (an event which will not be held in 2012 due to a schedule conflcit with the world 100K championship in Italy). The scenic route takes runners through Madison’s Vilas Park, lovely urban neighbors, and the world-famous University of Wisconsin Arboretum.

The solo 50K race is designated USA Track & Field’s Wisconsin state champiosnhip race.

2. 50K relay event. Run concurrently with the solo race, this popular relay event allows up to five runners to run one or more laps each. Team awards are in categories determined by total age of the team members.
