This is the second time I have run this race, it got me hooked on running, this years time was 7 mins better than last year, yes there’s a lot of people who are doing this for the first time who will slow you down, I take it in the intended spirit, for me its humbling to see so many people with the names of loved ones they are running for on their shirts, the day is a good day out for all- I think there should be more for the spectators children to do, ours got a bit bored waiting, and the fun run could be started sooner.

    Where are the race times?

I agree with all the other sentiments about being blocked in. It is ridiculous that hordes of slow runners/walkers are allowed to block the route. What difference does it make to them if they begin the race near the back? I’m not particularly fast these days but i found it very hard work waltzing round those hundreds of people who blocked any half decent runner’s paths. It’s the organiser’s fault, not the slow runners, who are probably oblivious to whats going on.

This event could be a lot bigger if both runners and ‘fun’ runners could be organised properly so that both could take part in an enjoyable way. The fun runners help create a great atmosphere and they do a sterling job in raising money, I’m all for it, but just get everyone in pace sectors at the beginning and the event can raise even more money.
The course itself is enjoyable, especially by the Humber, but it is a shame that it gets extremely narrow in parts, about the width of a large pavement.

I too was held up by the corporate lot at the front of the pack. It is really annoying as a runner trying to do a decent time to have to weave in and out of people running joggin/waling in a massive line across the road.

Take a leaf out of the start of the Abbey Dash where they clearly mark finish times so everyone is in the correct starting position and no one holds anyone up.

Not surprisingly I noted there were only a handful of club runners, there. Surely by organising the start better it would encourage the club runners to run it and therefore raise more money.

Completed the run yesterday and had a great time but did not receive the information booklet in my race pack and did not receive a reply from my call to the race office – very poor.

  • A runner (but not serious)

It did appear that that there were a lot of joggers/walkers starting in the runners section. I started at the very back of the runners section and couldn’t really start running for at least half a mile as I was playing dodgems trying to overtake.

i thoroughly enjoyed my second Jane Tomlinson Hull _ the event is incredibly well organised and an event to be proud of for Hull. My only slight criticism is that putting group charity runners of differing abilities at the front is annoying and time wasting for serious runners wanting to put in a decent time. On the whole though a very enjoyable day.

Had a great day at this Hull run I did all 3 Yorkshire Run for all 10ks’ last year and will be this year too. Today was better than last year we all thought because it was much cooler this year. Well done to the organisers, volunteers and participants. Brilliant day !.

  • A SERIOUS RUNNER

I know it’s for charity and I know that some people see it purely as that but some people do take it seriously. If you want to walk, walk. I have no problem with that, but start at the back. (including those people sponsored by yorkshire bank who lounged in the guildhall until 20 minutes before the start and then all joined at the front, just like they did last year and left anyone with a decent pace tripping over them). You do it the way you want. Let me do it the way I want. I did Beverley 10k last weekend. I joined in the start slot where I expected to finish and I ran all of the way with the people in that slot. Lets be mature folks.
