Race Description

Runners and walkers are invited to stretch their legs for literacy Saturday, October 5, in the Glenwood Canyon Shuffle Race for Literacy. This breath taking canyon is located just outside Glenwood Springs Colorado. A half-marathon (13.1-mile) run and 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) run/walk will take place on the bike path in scenic Glenwood Canyon east of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

The half-marathon begins at 9 a.m. and the 5K starts at 10. Buses will take participants from the finish line at the No Name exit of Glenwood Canyon to the race starting points.

The entry fee is $35 per person in the half-marathon and the 5K cost is $20 per person. A late fee applies of $5 per person for entries received after Sept. 29. The race entry fee includes a way cool long-sleeved T-shirt. Online registration is available at www.runningguru.com. Literacy Outreach provides one-on-one tutoring for adults through professionally trained volunteers in Garfield County, Colorado.

Racers should park at the race finish at No Name rest area at Exit 119 on Interstate 70 east of Glenwood Springs. Half marathon bus will leave at 8:15 a.m. sharp and take runners to the race start. 5K transportation will leave at 9:30 a.m. sharp. Bus transportation to race start is courtesy of RE-1 School District. We ask racers to not park at the 5K start due to limited space. Additional parking will be available at the Glenwood Canyon Resort near the rest area. This is also a wonderful place to rent a cabin or pitch a tent if you are joining us from out of town.

Runners, please check bus departure times and allow enough time to pick up your race bib and T-shirt before the buses depart.
