Race Description

This will be the first Worcester City 10K that we hope will become an incredibly popular city centre event which takes in some of the best sights in the City, including the Worcester Cathedral, viaduct and the famous River Severn.

Worcester Racecourse is the main assembly area. The race begins on Croft Road just in front of the splendid railway viaduct.

After a few hundred metres a right turn takes us over the River Severn and another right sends the route on a loop around Cripplegate Park, passing the 1km mark just before Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

After crossing the river the route turns left at All Saints Road towards the Butts, progessing towards a left on to Farrien Street and the 2km point.

After turning right on to The Tything the route heads into the City Centre and the pedestrian area, passing 3km and winding through the lanes to Friar Street. The Worcester and Birmingham canal is crossed twice, at just before and after 4km.

The course then loops towards the river before passing the Museum of Royal Worcesrer and heading towards the imposing cathedral which gives an impressive backdrop for the halfway point at 5km.

The riverside path is then approached via Quay Street and the mighty Severn is then a constant companion for the next few kilometers.

The impressive new developments around Diglis Dock guide the route towards the new footbridge which provides a fabulous view of Diglis Lock as the path crosses the river once more.

After passing the 8km mark the riverside path is flanked by the Severn and Chapter Meadows. The 9km point is passed at Worcestershire County Cricket ground and after crossing the road bridge the route returns along Croft Road to a left turn on to Grandstand Road and back under the viaduct to the welcome sight of the finish line.
