Race Description

The running weekend is 18-19 August, a 5 km run on the 18th and the other runs on the 19th.
The marathon distance, 42.195 km, based on the magnificent Wiradjuri walking track around the city of Wagga Wagga, and is about 95% off-road. It begins at Wagga Wagga beach, a sandy bank of the Murrumbidgee river. It follows riverside tracks to a cutting below the Sturt highway, then along the few kilometres of roadside bike/walkways to Lake Albert where it follows tracks and trails to the climb over the hilly terrain to the bush scenery of Silvalite reserve. Then, after going through a second culvert under the Sturt highway, the course climbs to the magnificent hill top views of Pomingalarna reserve. It then descends towards the sleepy countryside of Flowerdale lagoon, and returns to Wagga Wagga beach along the riverside trails and river red gums of the Murrumbidgee river. Wagga Wagga is on the western edge of the ‘South-west slopes’ region of NSW, and the course is more hilly than most first-time visitors to Wagga expect.
The other runs use parts of the marathon course.
