  • Linda Haywood

Congratulations to the winners – Wilson Kipsang of Kenya who very nearly broke the course record at 02:04.44, a long way out on his own, and Mary Keitany also of Kenya who led four of her countrywomen in near record breaking time to a time of 02:18.37!

Kipsang held his hands out in frustration as both pacers dropped out of his world record pace after only 11 miles instead of the half marathon that had been planned. Both Kenyans were very much on course to push records had there been more competition.

Conditions were perfect in the UK capital with a temperature of around 11 degrees celsius and a bright sunny morning. The UK’s Prince Harry was present at the finish line to promote an initiative to preserve playing fields in London.

  • Hello, I am hoping dearly that there are some charity places left to run in the London Marathon on 22nd April 2012. I have always dreamt of this, and hope to before I am 40 years old (Sep. 2012). I am very fit, attend a gym 4 – 5 days a week, ran the Tesco 10k run in 56 minutes. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this. Thank you for your attention, Regards, Tracey
