Race Description

The race dates back to 1978, which I started as to put something back to the sport, though I’d only been involved with for two years. The course and terrain hasn’t changed much in 32 years except to make it tougher.

Its been a British and English championships twice and an inter-counties once. The venue for the registration has changed just once. 5 years ago we had to move to the Church community centre as the field was fenced off, and it was better for toilets and refreshments which, might I say, are the best around, according to the runners comments.

As for the course there are hardly any road involved. It’s typical Lancashire moorland tracks, paths, tussocks, and river crossings. Most of the climbing involved is on the way back from the trig point.
