The nature of Adventure Racing is that anyone of any age and fitness can take part, from the very beginner to the ultra racer. You plan and run your own race, although there are prizes for the ones who collect the most points in each category.
You plan your own strategy and route, deciding how many CPs you want to visit and in what order. You will lose 1 point for each 30s you are late coming back. All checkpoints are worth 10 points each. Distance covered depends on how many checkpoints are visited; it can be anything from 8km to around 16+km, and depends entirely on your level of fitness, and on your running and map reading skills.
