Race Description

Originating in 1986, this is the 25th anniversary of the Third Word Run. There are three main events, a 10k and 3k run, plus a family fun walk all of which take park in the picturesque setting of Ormeau Park in Belfast. The 10k run tends to attract club runners, the 3k amd family fun walk attract more casusl entries. The emphasis is more on fun running than serious racing, although several very sucessful runners claim to have been motivated by this event.

It is a cross community event to raise money each year in support the work of Oxfam, Concern, Trocaire and Christian Aid in their work to eleminate poverty in the developing world. All officials, organisers and helpers are volunteers.
