The Susan G. Komen Orange County 22nd annual Race for the Cure will take place this year on Sunday, September 22 at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. A discounted registration rate of $30 is available now through June 30. After June 30, the price will increase to $35.

Each year, nearly 30,000 participants in Orange County run, walk, stroll or cheer in support of Komen’s mission. The first 5K run/walk will commence at 7:15 a.m. and runners are strongly encouraged to join this race. A one-mile fun walk will begin at 8 a.m. and a second 5K run/walk will be held at 9:45 a.m.

A powerful breast cancer survivors’ tribute will begin at 9 a.m. The ceremony serves to celebrate women and men who have fought a battle with breast cancer. Last year, more than 1,000 survivors carrying pink roses gathered in solidarity on the steps of the Pacific Life building.

We all know someone who has been touched by breast cancer; whether it’s a mother, a sister, a wife, or maybe even you. Be inspired this year to form a team of friends, family and co-workers.

Seventy five percent of the funds raised at Race for the Cure help support local breast health outreach, mammography for uninsured women and men in need, and support for local women while in cancer treatment. The remaining 25 percent goes directly into the Komen Global Research Fund to energize science to find the cure.

Unable to make it to the event? Register as a Sleep In for the Cure participant and Komen OC will mail a Race T-shirt and bib after the event.
