Race Description
It’s no ordinary run! An orienteering race is a staggered start trail run with a difference – there is no set route. For an added mental challenge, you must navigate your way around the course, between each checkpoint, using a detailed map to choose your own route. We use electronic chip timing, which you’ll register at each checkpoint around the park.
Come along any time between 10am and 11.30am and we’ll get you started if you’ve not been orienteering before. No experience is necessary and you don’t need any special equipment – just normal running gear.
The courses will take you along paths and off-path, so trainers or trail running shoes are ideal. A compass may be handy to bring, but we can always lend you one if needed.
Various courses for runners, and also families and children, up to 5k (however this is a straight line distance measured between the control points and you’ll run further!). Email us for more info or check out our website. Find us on Facebook too, at www.facebook.com/tvoclub
