Race Description

The Hilly Clothing Company Richmond Castle 10k has been held on its present course since 2002 and has grown in popularity with entries received from all over the UK and beyond. Due to restrictions at the start area the race is limited to 500 runners and this means that entries on the day will only be accepted if this number has not been reached. Please check this website for the latest information if you are thinking of entering on the day.

The race starts in Richmond’s cobbled market place and is on all roads apart from a very short section of grass on an area known as the Batts. Runners pass the spectacular Richmond Falls on the River Swale before crossing the river at Green Bridge and climbing Sleegill. A quick look over the shoulder from Sleegill offers fine views of Richmond Castle. Runners are then taken on a short circuit of Catterick Garrison before returning to Richmond and a great finish within the grounds of the castle. We are extremely grateful to English Heritage for allowing us the use of the castle for our event.

The race HQ is in Richmond Market Hall where refreshments will be availabe and Sweatshop of York will be in attendance with a selection of the latest running kit that available to purchase. The race also has its own real ale festival which has proved very popular with both runners and their supporters in previous years, and ales can be purchased to take home for enjoyment later.
