The Niagara Falls International Marathon, taking place October 21, 2012, begins at the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo and crosses the Peace Bridge between USA and Canada making it the only marathon in the world that starts in one country and ends in another. Over 6,000 runners are expected to participate in the Marathon, Marathon-Relay, Half-Marathon (run, walk & wheelchair), 10K and 5K, ending at the “most famous finish line in the world”, the brink of the Horseshoe Falls. The annual Schools Marathon Challenge encourages students to run 40K prior to race day, completing the final 2.195K on the marathon course. The 2-day Health and Fitness Expo features vendors showcasing products for the running world. A free Breakfast Run and Italpasta Pasta Party ($20 tickets) on Saturday, October 20, 2012 will round out the event. Over 1,500 volunteers help make this event a success each year.
