Race Description
A challenging 1 loop half-marathon course of the surrounding country and hillside of beautiful Nakusp. A combination of road, dirt road and trail will be used, however, the run is mainly road. It will have a significant elevation gain and loss, as this is typical running in the Kootenays, rarely is it flat, making this course one of the most difficult half marathons in BC! The route will start and finish at the Gazebo Park, include a loop up into the Wells Road area, then over to Alexander Road where it will cross the highway and use a short stretch of the old railbed trail to connect with Brouse Loop. A significant climb up Billings, then around the Crescent Bay area and back into Nakusp along the highway and beautiful Boardwalk path along the lake.
The Fun Run begins at 10:00 a.m. is a 5 km road run around Nakusp. Starting at the Gazebo Park in downtown Nakusp, runners will start and end with the stunning view of the lake.
