Race Description

October 6th 2013 will be the first time this race has been held in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang. Because of the race’s small size – in the region of 500 runners – it will be a very personal race, with a very strong sense of community. We also anticipate high demand for places.

The race will not charge any runner fees. Instead, all runners will be required to make a minimum donation direct to charities working locally, pre-selected by independent advisers. This will increase the transparency and impact of the race’s donations, encourage runners to help local causes and feel more connected to this beautiful town.

It is our hope that through this structure the race could raise between up to 100x more donations per runner than other similar races. This will obviously enhance the connections between the town, the community, the runners – and the sponsors.

We are also looking for sponsors. Given the uniqueness of the event and structure, we hope to gather a very large amount of media support for the race – that for sponsors could well be worth more than 10x the cost of sponsoring the race.
