Race Description

Starting at an altitude of 10,766 ft / 3,281 m, with a cumulative vertical ascent of 13,313 ft / 4,057 m, and a temperature variation of 50°Celsius / 122° Fahrenheit, the participants at La Ultra – The High also have to battle with an oxygen content that is around 60% less than at sea level. La Ultra -The High pushes human endurance to the limit and re-defines what the human body and mind are capable of.

We leave it to the participants to judge how it compares against other ultra marathons out there.

Just a word of caution though, please do not under-estimate it!

The new route starts midway between Diskit and Khalsar villages at an altitude of 10,766 ft / 3,281 m. After first 3 km of being flat, it ascends for next 60 km to reach Khardung La, world’s highest motor-able mountain pass, at 17,700 ft / 5,395 m. The route then descends to Leh, its lowest at 10,982 ft / 3,347 m, which also happens to be half way mark (111 km). Over next 50 km, there is a gentle ascent to Serthi / Sakhti at 12,514 ft / 3,814 m, before a steep climb up to Worry La (actual
name being Wari-La) at 17,362 ft / 5,292 m. The route comes down back to finish 1 km past Serthi / Sakhti.
