Race Description

Kazbegi Mountain Marathon – the race we all love has its 12th anniversary this year!

This year you will experience an unforgettable mountain adventure. Steep climbs, high elevation, unforgettable and wild nature, mountain river crossing, technical sections and an amazing view on Kazbegi Mountain following all the way along the trail.

The race starts in village Gergeti and continues through Gergeti Trinity Church parking area to Sabertse Pass via the Winter Path. All along the path, the view of the magnificent Kazbegi Mountain will encourage runners fighting climbs. In the middle of the path, participants of the Classic Trail race will take sharp left and reach the parallel Summer Path, have some drinks and food at the point and enjoy their descent to the finish. Runners of the Sky and Extreme races will reach the pass, cross a mountain stream via bridge and stop at Altihut, where check and refreshment point is located. Another 1.5km and Skyrace participants will reach Gergeti Glacier. The next 2km on the Glacier is the toughest part of the race. Finally, runners will get to the highest point of their journey (3,650 masl): Mount Kazbegi Base Camp and Bethlemi Hut. Now the long descent to the finish is ahead through the Glacier, Altihut, Sabertse Pass and the Summer Path. Fun Run is the shortest 4km run of the race. It reaches Gergeti Trinity Church and descends back to the start location.

– Altihut: 14km
– Summer Path: 18km

Runners must finish the distance inside the time limits:
– Fun Run: 4:00 hrs
– Classic trail: 3:00 hrs
– SkyRace: 4:00 hrs
– Extreme: 6:00 hrs

The race is international and the finishers of Extreme race will receive 2 ITRA points, while SkyRace finishers will be granted with 1 point. Both of these distances are UTMB 50K qualifier.
