Race Description

Jupiter Peak Steeple Chase is a 21 year old Park City favorite and the crowning event for the La Sportiva Mountain Cup Race Series. In 2016, the series will award a $10,000 purse at the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase. JPS brings elite athletes as well as weekend warriors to Park City from all over the country. With an elevation profile that resembles an inverted “V” (for vertical!) this race is not for the faint of heart!

The event starts at the base of the Park City Mountain Resort. Runners immediately access single track trail which leads to the base of Jupiter Peak. To gain the summit, runners must scramble approximately 500’ to the top of Jupiter Peak (9,998’). After achieving this summit, the course takes runners down around Scott’s peak and then over and up to the top of Tri-County Peak (elevation 10,026’) after which begins the 3,000’ descent to the finish at the Silver Star Resort. The course is a stout 16-mile +/- run with 3,000’ of vertical gain.

Produced by the Mountain Trails Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, in 1992 to gain access for, build and maintain non-motorized trails in the Park City area. All proceeds raised, help support our organization and mission.
