Race Description

The Houghton Trail is a low key friendly village event. All proceeds go to the All Saints Church, Houghton, Hampshire. There are five routes to choose from, ranging from 32K, 14K or 5K Mountain Bike race to an 11K or 4K Trail Run, mostly off road and the 5K and 4K are completely off road. Please note, these distances are not measured with a Jones Counter and are approximate. This is set in rural Test Valley and parts of the courses take in the Clarendon Way and the Test Way, trailing through the villages of Houghton, Stockbridge, Longstock and Broughton. There are marshalls and signposts throughout and this event is rated highly for its organisation and relaxed atmosphere. There are refreshments available at the Houghton Village Hall. Whilst there are a couple of steepish hills, in the main it is flat and undulating with some nice downhill stretches, beautiful countryside, bluebells, a couple of styles and so on. This is non-competitive and there are no prizes but all finishers receive a medal, compliments of The Trophy Box in Stockbridge. Winners and the first three finishers in each category receive a medal reflecting that. Other sponsors include Hobbs the Printers, Stockbridge Osteopathic Practice, Hildon Water and Up and Running. This event usually brings in 300 participants and raises in the region of £3,000 for the Church.
