Race Description

From the guys behind the legendary Rat Race comes the Green Belter – an Adventure on your doorstep offering a multi-sport mix of biking, running, a wee splash in our kayaks and our trademark mighty “Green Machine” obstacle course thrown in for good measure.

Our 2011 season offers 5 dates: Three action-packed events within an hour and a bit of central London, a brand-spanking new event in Yorkshire and a gleaming new date North of the Border in central Scotland. All of our venues feature pristine countryside, fresh air and a Belter of an adventure laid on by the ever-innovative Rat Race events crew. Join us this summer as we go off-beat in the Green Belt.

All events last up to 4 hours (depending on pace!) on way marked courses, take place on Saturdays and feature free parking and our bargain-laden Rat Race Store. Open to solos or pairs and everyone gets up to £50 worth of gear and rewards within their entry, including the special edition Rat Race Technical T-Shirt. With regular price at £45 for each individual that’s a Belter of a package! What’s more, anyone can take part, and no experience of adventure events is required.

Pippingford Estate is one of our all time favourite venues for adventure racing; a beautiful country estate nestling at the very centre of the mighty and ancient Ashdown Forest in Sussex. Our base of operations for the day is set among 1,000 acres of this delightful woodland estate and you will find yourself striking out from here across open heathland and into dense woods. The Estate also features a military training ground with fun obstacles – and our course planners will always find a way to “liberate” some of these for you!

Typically, you can expect the following sequence of activity, and these approximate distances, (though each event will be slightly different and we will reveal these details a month before each event):

Run – approx 10km
Bike – 20-30km
Kayak – average 1km
Green Machine – 200m max and 5m altitude!

Start Time: 11:00
