Embrace the next step towards the 2010 Gold Coast Airport Marathon being held in one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the world. Staged annually on the first Sunday in July, the 32nd Gold Coast Airport Marathon is set to motivate and challenge more than 23,000 people of all ages and abilities.
There will be a Marathon, a Half Marathon, a 10km Run, a 5km Challenge and Junior Dash races over 4km and 2.25km for the kids. Runners crave the magnificent running conditions on the Gold Coast in winter, as well as the flat, fast and beautiful course that runs alongside the Pacific Ocean surf beaches and broadwater.
The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is officially accredited by Athletics Australia and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). It annually assembles a quality field of elite runners pursuing a slice of the large prizemoney pool and the various championships on offer.
Most of the event’s participants take part for the personal challenge, the experience of a vibrant community event and embracing a healthy and active lifestyle. The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is also great to participate in as a group and offers a streamlined entry system for teams of 20 or more.
Thousands of spectators cheer the runners home with roving musicians and entertainers around the course creating an amazing atmosphere called ‘Runspiration’. Before the event, runners can check out the Asics Sport & Leisure Expo at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre and buy a ticket to the Legends Motivational Carbo Lunch annually attended by Australian running legends Rob de Castella, Steve Moneghetti, Lee Troop and Pat Carroll.
