Race Description

Gateshead International Stadium is the third largest sporting venue in Tyne and Wear and the North East’s only IAAF-standard athletics stadium. The venue has hosted IAAF Diamond and Golden League Athletics and the European Cup featuring the superstars of athletics. You will be joining many World Champions and Olympians have crossed the finish line at Gateshead International Stadium where five world records broken in track and field on the famous track.

This ROAD CLOSED half marathon starts on the Felling By-Pass and heads towards Heworth roundabout before turning and running towards Gateshead roundabout and then back towards Gateshead International Stadium. The course will then head down to the picturesque Quayside area and will pass the iconic Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Sage Gateshead, BALTIC Centre For Contemporary Arts, run under the iconic Tyne Bridge and past the historic Swing Bridge before turning back to pass these landmarks again. The course then re-joins the Felling By-Pass and heads once again to Heworth roundabout and Gateshead Roundabout before entering the world famous Gateshead International Stadium and finishing by running around the track and crossing the finish line cheered home by family and friends.

Each mile is accurately marked out with distance flags and we have plenty of helpers to keep you on track and to encourage you on your way to the finish.
