Race Description

Hundreds of runners and walkers, including suicide survivors and mental health advocates, will gather to raise awareness for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention as they participate in the 8th Annual Emotions In Motions 5K Run/Walk for Mental Health. Proceeds raised will benefit
SAVE – Suicide Awareness Voices of Education, a national nonprofit agency based in Bloomington.

The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 beginning at 9 a.m. (8 a.m. registration) at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis.

Individuals or teams may register online at www.SAVE.org. Walkers may register the day of the event for $15.
For runners, pre-registration can be done through SAVE.org for $25 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under if made before July 30. After July 30, the registration fee is $30 for adults and $15 for children under 12.

A free t-shirt and a yellow rose, symbolizing hope, is offered to each participant who completes the 5K Run/Walk.

Sponsored by the Walser Foundation, the event includes resources from several local healthcare organizations for individuals and families, SAVE books and merchandise sales, activities for children, music, food and beverages.

Online fundraising is available on the events page at SAVE.org. Groups with the largest number of participants and who have raised the most money in support of suicide prevention will be recognized at the event.

Suicide is a national public health crisis that is the 10th leading cause of death in the Minnesota. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15 to 34-year-olds and the third leading cause of death for 35 to 44-year-olds. SAVE works to prevent suicide through public awareness and education, reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and serves as a resource to those touched by suicide.
