Race Description

The Ron Jon Cocoa Beach Triathlon has established itself as a fun and challenging event and as one of Coastal Florida’s favorite early season triathlons.

Always held the second weekend of April, our event draws a good mixture of Floridians and triathletes from more northern states anxious to escape the cold and get in a springtime race.

Our event is an enjoyable one for established athletes, but has proven itself as a great test for first time triathletes. We have twice been a “Best First Timer’s Race” national finalist in the Triathlon Business International annual awards.

The event is based adjacent to the Cocoa Beach Country Club and begins with a .25 mile swim in the Banana River. The swim is a beach entry and beach exit and is well supported with more than a dozen certified Open Water lifeguards and volunteers in kayaks and on paddleboards.

The 12.4 (20K) mile out and back bike route is completely flat and takes athletes away from the Country Club area and down coastal highway A1A. The bike leg is held on an open road but is well supported by Cocoa Beach Police, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and event staff and volunteers.

The run portion of our race is held on the Cocoa Beach Golf Course cart path (course closed to golfers for our event), and the rest in a riverfront neighborhood. A total of 3.1 miles

The finish line and transition areas are adjacent to the Country Club and very near the swim entry and exit areas.

DUATHLON DISTANCE: 1 MILE RUN + 12.4 MILE BIKE + 3.1 MILE RUN
