Race Description

If you are looking for a marathon which is off road, picturesque and challenging then running the Clarendon is the ultimate. Our route takes you from Salisbury to Winchester along the ancient Clarendon Way with a few extra turns here and there to make up a full 26.2 miles. More than 90% is off road, with the trail following country tracks and paths. We also have a half marathon which starts at the halfway point of Broughton and we have 4 person relay. The main start time is 10.30 but we also have an early start of 8.30 for people wanting to walk the route.

This was the hardest and hilliest half I’ve ever done! BUT the marshals were second to none and the views were spectacular. The full marathoners were over-taking us a mile or two into the run and I was very impressed at the words of encouragement they gave (maybe because I was near the back.)
It was very well organised, also allowing me so swap from the full to the half at the last minute.I took full advantage of the banana pieces and cake being handed out on route. All in all it was probably the friendliest half I’ve done. I’d like to say I’ll be back next year but those hills are not yet a distant memory. T all involved – a MASSIVE thank you for such a great day.
