ARCHIVED RACE: Boys and Girls Club of Newark Wellness to 5K @ Branch Brook Park (Cherry Blossom Welcome Center), Newark, NJ, United States on 17 September 2022

In honor of the Boys & Girls Club Day for Kids, our 2nd annual 5K to Wellness is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 17th 2022 at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.

The Boys & Girls Club of Newark (BGCN) is an after school program in the City of Newark. We are more than an after school program. We believe in supporting children from a holistic approach. On site at the Boys & Girls Club of Newark we have a pediatric dental center that provides no cost to low cost dental services to children in the community, food distributions, vision care and social and emotional support to children who attend the program.

We hosted our first annual event in September 2021, and just like before, the goal of this event is to raise funds to support our Wellness department. We want to expand our capacity to serve more of Newark’s youth and their families. The Covid 19 pandemic has shown the impact that isolation, depression, and anxiety have on children, adults, and marginalized communities. The pandemic continues to show the disparities and lack of access to mental health care because of the availability of providers due to full caseloads.

When you register and race in our 2nd annual 5K to Wellness, you will allow us to expand our mental and behavioral service to our members and the greater Newark community by hiring licensed mental health practitioners. Additionally, your support will provide families access to nutrition education, case management to address immediate daily needs, dental and vision care. BGCN is requesting your support to make our 2nd annual 5K to Wellness a success!
