Race Description

Please join the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce on Saturday September 10, 2022 for the Allegheny River Running Fest in Olean, New York! The Allegheny River Running Fest features two races: a 10K and Half Marathon both will start/finish at War Veterans Park in Olean. A good portion of both races will have you running along the picturesque Allegheny River on the area’s Allegheny River Valley Trail. In fact, this race is one of few that actually run along the 325-long Allegheny River.

Virtual Registration Option
We are also offering a virtual registration option for those of you who do not wish to run with us on race day. For the virtual option, you get to choose the distance (10K or half marathon) along with when and where you wish to run using the honor system. You can use the FREE IYR Virtual App that will automatically track and map your route for you OR self-enter your results online at any time from September 10th at 9 am through September 30th. Race organizers will mail out your official race swag the week after the race!

CANCELLATION POLICY
Due to the upfront nature of event costs, all entry fees are non-refundable. All participants acknowledge and accept this policy during the registration process. This policy stays in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected business trip, family emergency, illness, pregnancy, etc. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion or offer a virtual alternative if necessary.

NIGHT BEFORE and RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP AVAILABLE
Friday September 9, 2022: Packets will be available for pick up from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.
Saturday September 10, 2022: Register online prior to your arrival. Packets will be distributed from 7 AM right up until the start of the race at 9 AM.

RACE DAY PARKING
There is ample parking at the park!

UPGRADE YOUR RACE SHIRT
Upgrade your race shirt to a 1/4 zip long sleeve jacket. These jackets will retail race day for $28. However, upgrade on the registration site for an additional $20. If you would like both race shirt and quarter-zip, please add $25 to your registration total.

OTHER
– You must show photo ID to receive your race number, timing tag and race packet.
– Coaches, baby-joggers, bikes, dogs, in-line skates, and skateboards will not be allowed.
– You must be at least 10 years old to participate.

COURSE SAFETY
Headphones are allowed but we advise you to leave one ear open for YOUR SAFETY.

ENTERTAINMENT
Music and fun provided along the course

TIME LIMIT
The finish line will remain open for 4 hours. Participation support (aid/water stations, volunteers, course marshals, etc.) will not be guaranteed after that time and you must adhere to local pedestrian rules (sidewalks, etc).

TIMING & SCORING
We use a bib chip system with chips affixed to your bib. Please do not fold the bib and wear it on the front (chest or front of shorts).

ENTERING VIRTUAL RESULTS
After completing your virtual race, you can enter your results at any time during the month of September by clicking on the Results tab at the top of this page. Search for your name and then select edit results. You will be prompted for the email and password you created when you registered for the race and created an IYR profile.

WHAT IF I GET SICK OR INJURED during the race and cannot continue? We will have several volunteers on bike patrol on the course searching for runners in need of assistance. If you cannot finish the race, flag down a bike volunteer or tell the volunteers at an aid station. For those in need of medical attention, we will have an ambulance on standby at the park but the course will be coordinated through the 911 system.

RACE AWARDS & SWAG

AWARDS
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers for each race event. Also, to the top three male and female finishers in the race’s age groups, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and above. The Last Squirrel Award will be presented to the last finisher through the half marathon event.

FINISHER MEDAL
As the City of Olean has an unofficial city mascot of a black squirrel, your finisher’s medal will have one of these nutty characters on the medal – to remind you of the great time you had at the ARRF.

SWAG BAG
Your SWAG Bag will be loaded with GU, Nut Butter, and other fun stuff.

RACE FOOD/BREW
Each race participant for the half and the 10K will receive a Food VOUCHER for their choice of after race meal and two tickets to redeem for brews, from local distributors Sanzo Beverage and Wright Beverage. There will also be water and soft drinks available.

LODGING
There are several local hotels in the area – Olean – 5 to 15 minute drive from hotel to race event; Bradford/Salamanca – 25 to 40 minutes; and Ellicottville – 30 to 45 minutes.

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Gun start/chip finish timing services using industry-leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real-time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
