Race Description

The organising team invite you to take part in this year’s City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K. This year the event celebrates it’s 25th Anniversary and is now established as the largest 10K Road Race in the North East of Scotland.

The event includes a 10K Wheelchair Race and Family Fun Run as well as the 10K race, a well established race in Aberdeen and for many runners the highlight of their season.

The course for this Scottish Athletics permit event is based around Aberdeen’s Beach and Harbour area and has some spectacular views of the North Sea and the iconic Beach Ballroom on the route of the course.

The City of Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K attracts all types of entries, from the serious runners who are in it to win it, to the Corporate Group who enter to raise money for charity or simply the person who wants to use the event as motivation to get fit.

If you are planning to take part or are thinking about entering, why not persuade family, friends or work colleagues to take part with you.

Congratulations to Ben Hukins and Jill Smylie!

Hi, does anyone know or have a rough idea of the ‘serious runners:charity/casual runners’ ratio? Even just an approx percentage would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance….. oh, great day by the way 🙂

    • Hi Michael – interesting question (not one I can answer I’m afraid!) – we are currently building this into the next version of Race-Calendar.com.

While some elements of the new version are under wraps, we can definitely promise that the “seriousness” of the runners participating is something we’re looking to highlight!

Expect the new version before October 2011 – before then, we will try to get a race organiser – or previous participant – to get an answer up for you.

According to organisers, “Race results will be available from 12noon on Monday at http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/10kaberdeen. They will also be published in a supplement in Monday’s Evening Express.” – will provide an update once available.

This may have changed? But you could not enter on the day as it is a tag race. You can enter the fun run on the day tho. Just in case people miss out.

My son wants to run the Baker Hughes 10K,(Aberdeen), went in to register his application it was refused because of his age, 14.5 years. I wonder if there is any other part of the race that he can do because he is quite keen.

    • Not sure, though your issue does highlight something a lot of people are asking us about – age restrictions on races. We may well include this option on future race event details pages to help out with younger visitors (and their parents / guardians).
