ARCHIVED RACE: inov-8 BraveheartBattle 2012 @ Muennerstadt, Germany, 10th March 2012

“Go through hell…” is the motto of BraveheartBattle, a mixture of trail run, extreme run and fun run with natural and artificial obstacles, to compare with the Tough Guy in England. Up to 2,500 participants have to cover a 24 kilometre track with cold water, muddy terrain, and 45 obstacles in a maximum time of 5 hours. Leaving out an obstacle will lead to immediate disqualification – it is allowed to continue the run, but the participant will not become an official Braveheart. Only the bravest of the braves will master of this hellish course; their reward being fame, honor and the “Medal of Honor”!

The obstacle names are alarming and give an imagination of what participants may expect: ‘Killing Hill’, ‘Hangman”, ‘Brave Wall’, Loch Ness’ or ‘Funk Holes’ demand a great deal of power, courage, perseverance and ability to suffer. A good shape is by far not enough to be one of the bravest: Real Bravehearts mustn’t be afraid of cold water and muddy shoes, have to manage slippery ropes, crawl on all fours eat dust, mud and ice, and climb high walls and scaffolds. The crossing of barriers from tires or tree trunks with break-neck jumps will be more than challenging, demanding quickness and skillfulness at the same time.

The first part of the track is flat, including demanding trails, while the second part consists of a hilly phase. The route is tough, making use of the natural obstacles including the Lauer River that has to be crossed several times – it has a width of 5 metres and at certain points a depth of 2 metres – and the hellish ‘Loch Ness’: The Bravehearts have to swim for 100 meters and then again walk through this pool while they sink in the mud up to their knees. If the weather is really “bravehearty”, we will have an outside temperature of 4°C and water temperature of 2°C as we had for the first BraveheartBattle in March 2010, making it a really demanding race!

Starting fee: € 59.-, teams get 10% discount (teams have to consist of at least 5 participants)

Prices: Every finisher will get the Medal of Honor, the limited Finisher Sticker and the Finisher Shirt. Rewards for the bravest of the brave will be:
• First Finisher (fastest participant m/f)
• First Bravehearty (fastest woman)
• Grand Braveheart (eldest finisher male, over 50)
• Grand Bravehearty (eldest finisher female, over 50)
• TeamSpirit (fastest team that reaches the finish as a group)
• Best Team (team with best performance, fairness etc.)
