Race Description

The Malta Marathon incorporates a Half Marathon.

Both races start outside the medieval fortified city of Mdina which until 1570 was the capital city of Malta.
Both races finish in Sliema which is a residential, business and touristic hub. The finish line is situated alongside one of the Grand Harbour’s creeks which overlooks the great bastions of Valletta, the current capital city of Malta.

Both races pass through countryside and villages and are well served with water, energy drink and sponge stations along the route and at the finish. Several bands are situated along the route to entertain the participants.

Over the last years this event has grown and is still growing. There was a record number of participants for the 2012 Land Rover Malta Marathon with over 2,500 entries. Of these, over 1,000 were foreigners coming to Malta to enjoy the event and the culture, history and fine weather that Malta has to offer.
The icing on the cake is the fine medal (70mm x 7mm) that each finisher receives as they cross the finish line.
