Race Description

This event honors Allan Makowski, an artist, poet, outdoorsman, and modern Renaissance man. He was a very active membr of the community, a loving, caring family man, and a loyal friend.

Allan lost his courageous battle with stage IV lung cancer in June 2009. His family and friends have a strong commitment to funding early diagnosis and treatment research, and have planned this 5K walk and fun run, which is now in its 8th year.

Northeastern Pennsylvania is an area with an above-average rate of lung cancer. So many lives are touched by this disease—those of the patients, the survivors, families, and friends. We hope to bring lung cancer awareness to the forefront in the northeastern Pennsylvania area.
