The 2016 Sierra Leone Marathon will be our fifth outing for Street Child’s flagship fundraising challenge: a marathon, half-marathon, 5k or 10k race through some of the most beautiful scenery in Northern Sierra Leone. Our 3, 5 or 7 day packages combine your selected race distance with project visits offering you the chance to meet and draw inspiration from the very children and families you’ve been raising funds for… and the chance to relax on one of Sierra Leone’s stunning beaches.

Described by Runner’s World as

“the most worthwhile marathon in the world”, the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon is a charity event that allows you to support and experience the beautiful communities of Sierra Leone.

Route description:

Starting off in the town of Makeni you will pass through the villages of children whom you are raising funds for. 

Passing stunning landscape featuring the Mabole river, Yelisanda junction and the Wusum Hill. 

The Sierra Leone Marathon will be run on both urban and rural roads. The majority of these are hard-packed mud roads, but also some tarmac. The route will take in some of the most beautiful scenes of northern Sierra Leone.
