Race Description

The Hamsterley trail race is approximately 10k through the undulating off-road terrain of Co Durham’s magnificent Hamsterley Forest. 2000 hectares of mixed woodland lying between the Wear and Tees valleys on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Hamsterley is a delightful oasis of broadleaved and coniferous woodland, sprawling along the sides of a sheltered valley.

Places are capped at 300 participants this year, so to avoid disappointment, make sure to book in advance. On the day entries may be accepted if the participant limit has not been reached, but please check in advance before arriving at Hamsterley Forest.

Aycliffe Running Club and Butterwick Hospice volunteers will be helping on the day, and there will be a great supportive atmosphere. All money raised will go towards the running of Butterwick Hospice in Bishop Auckland, so not only will runners be doing what they love, they’ll be supporting a great cause.

Cost is £13 for affiliated club members, or £15 for unaffiliated runners. Trail shoes may be required as the course is undulating and off road. Finishers will receive a finishers pack including a t-shirt and refreshments will be provided during and at the end of the race.
