Race Description

Anyone who has been to a Run 4 a Reason 5K or 8K knows that it is unlike any other running event. It is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a ten week season of Girls on the Run programming. By the day of the event, their enthusiasm is so unbridled that they are running around before the race! Positive energy abounds as the girls dance to warm-up music, get their hair “happied” and “tattoos” on their faces, and gather with their teammates to hold hands as they head to the starting line. Our 5K is a non-competitive event that will bring a smile to your face! The 8K shares the course with the girls, with laughter and smiles all around. You will be so glad you joined us!

The race will start and finish just north of the intersection of 13th & Jackson, on the East side of the YWCA located at 225 SW 12th Street. Jackson will be closed to traffic from 14th & Kansas to 12th Street while the course is open.

NEW ROUTE – the route is out and back, running around the Capitol and continue toward Brown vs Board of Education. The 8k will continue on the Landon Trail and turn around at 25th Street.
