Dawn Chasers: 12 Hour Night Trail Run – Wimbleball Lake 22nd-23rd April 2017

The stunning Wimbleball Lake on the edge of Exmoor is home to our very first Dawn Chasers: 12 Hour Night Trail Run on the night of Saturday 22nd through to Sunday 23rd April 2017. This endurance race is open to soloists as well as teams of 2, 3-4 and 5-6 people running in relay. We start at 6.01pm, running in the light to familiarise yourself with the routes before night falls when your head torches will lead the way through to Dawn. Official sunrise at 6.01am marks the end of the race and we come together for a well-deserved breakfast and prize giving.

The aim is to complete as many laps of the course as you can within the twelve hour timeframe. Teams run in relay with one runner out on the route at any one time carrying the timing baton. Soloists will have a shoe mounted chip. You can complete a final lap if you start it before 6.01am. There are two routes to choose from each time you set off to keep things interesting and varied – one 8km and another 16km (which will count as two laps).

Wimbleball Lake has been nominated to be the first Dark Skies Discovery Site on Exmoor. If we are lucky enough to get a clear night then we will enjoy unrivalled views of the stars above, including the Milky Way, and hopefully a stunning sunrise over the lake.

Race Entry – £70pp

The 12 Hour Night Trail Run is open to those aged 18 or over. We welcome hardcore competitors as well as those who are just with us for the great atmosphere or to support a charity close to their heart – so long as everyone in the team has completed at least one lap, walking or running, that’s good enough for us!

Entry is incredible value at £70 per person in the solo or team categories. This includes:

Camping in one of the South West’s most stunning locations, overlooking the lake

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in each category: Male Solo, Female Solo, Teams of 2, Teams of 3-4 and Teams of 5-6. Teams can be mixed, all male or all female. There may also be other prizes up for grabs as the night unfolds.
