Race Description

Not just a race, but an occasion. Voted the most scenic marathon by the readers of Running World it’s bigger, better and as beautiful as ever. Finish this breathtakingly beautiful course, amidst a carnival atmosphere, in the grounds of Brathay Hall with its stunning views over England’s largest lake.

The 26.2 anti-clockwise lap around Lake Windermere takes in the honey-pot sites of Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside. Over half the course is run on partially traffic-free roads or roads with a dedicated running lane. Runners say it’s very well organised, the marshals are very friendly, it has outstanding local support and, to top it all, you will get to see the inspirational men and women who will be completing the final marathon of their 10in10.
