Starting on the promenade and heading south, the route circles through the harbour before taking on the first of the hill challenges.

The climb up Pen Dinas is on a grass track and treats runners to outstanding views along the Ystwyth valley before reaching the Monument at approximately 450ft and then descending once again to the road. Retracing their steps along the promenade runner’s then face the second challenge.

The rocky path climbing up Constitution Hill crosses back and forth over the cliff railway reaching just over 450ft before joining a tarmac road for the fast final descent back to the promenade and the opportunity of a sprint finish to the end.

Part of the race is the annual Town V Gown challenge between runners from Aberystwyth AC and the University Harriers. The first three runners from each club count and the winners have the honour of holding the Dolphin Trophy.

Male and female team prizes are awarded to the first three club team finishers.

A 2 mile junior race climbing over Constitution Hill and back will also take place at 11:30am- minimum age for entry 16years.

The setting on the prom gives lots for spectators to see as the runners at leave the start, arrive at the finish and pass the midway point. And there’s plenty of opportunity for a drink and something to eat at nearby cafe’s and restaurants.
